PanaKids has been thriving as a bilingual, multicultural preschool for five years, serving children ages 2-5 in Panajachel, Guatemala. In response to an increasing demand for quality bilingual programs, PanaKids is expanding to a biliteracy elementary program. In January 2011, PanaKids introduced two new grade levels, Preparatoria and 1st grade, adding a new grade level each year.
Goal
The goal for PanaKids students is to become proficient in Spanish and English by the end of 6th grade, while maintaining and cultivating their home language.
Our Vision
PanaKids is an innovative school that teaches children to identify with their community, while developing personal integrity, strong morals, social and personal values, so that they are prepared to face a multicultural and ever-changing world.
Our Mission
Our mission is to prepare students for the challenges of higher education by maintaining high academic standards through the use of interactive games and activities to build new concepts, language and interpersonal skills.
Our Philosophy
We use games to facilitate the learning process, recognizing the value of experiential, hands-on activities to develop creative thinking in a safe and nurturing environment.
Parent Involvement
PanaKids is a learning community where families, teachers, and children learn and grow. Parents help to form the school culture and environment. The Association of Parents (APA) provides leadership as well as a valuable support system for families at PanaKids. Depending on the expressed needs and support of the parent community, workshops are provided on family literacy, producing food, nutrition, and positive parenting.
